We're up against a religious belief here - all these MBAs and other educated menaces that infest the banking and regulatory structure believe that they have a divine right to make off like bandits, and also believe that there IS such a thing as a free lunch, if only they play enough games with the numbers.

I would humbly suggest the following edit:

" Mr. President, Bill Black, myself and a significant number of others have been pounding the table on these issues for more than two years. "

Might want to change that to Mr. President:

For a moment I thought you were saying the president had also been pounding the table on those issues, then reality snapped back by the end of the sentence LOL

Its a shame, we could have gotten out of this mess if they had let the chips fall where they may. But now all this debt created in trying to hide the sausage and bail the banks will drag on the economy for a generation. They blew it, they really did. I have friends who say they are holding stocks for the long term. Ultimate bagholders, I believe before this is over, people will be swearing off stocks for good. There is no hope for an economy that has to keep rolling over the debt every 3 or 4 years. We will never get back to a balanced budget without a default first.

Kd, you do an unbelievably great service. Kudo's.

Tickers like this is why. Spread the word although I feel many Americans already know the game but feel powerless to do anything about it.

Thanks for posting this. I hope you are forwarding it to the amjor media outlets. I can understand why this kind of stuff gets ignored by the MSM, but I am surprised it has not been picked up by FOX.

William Black should be all over the mainstream media, one of the clearest and most authoritative voices on the massive bank fraud that has ruined millions of lives. But instead, 60 Minutes runs infomercials for the Fed and the FDIC.

As Ron Paul said just before TARP was passed, "If the government does nothing we're going to have a very bad year. If they do something, we're going to have a very bad decade".

Black talked with Laura Flanders awhile back. It's another excellent worthwhile listen. Thanks again, Karl. Just considering the source, the TF
F(reeper)ED-Up set won't much like this but others might. It's a straight forward honest assessment by Black. Less than 20 min. in length.

@gulf... when I played the video and the host came on the first thing that came to my mind was "lesbian".

I'd never heard of her before so I decided to double check my impression... lo and behold, she is. What baffles me is... how did I know that in one second of looking at her?

Ok, I watched the whole thing and 2 people asked him what the final outcome is going to be. Basically he just said that there would be a scandal here and that Hungary is going to bite the dust like Iceland did.

Obviously I missed something, but I am not sure what it was.

Both the moderator and Black are giving Obama a pass, as though he is an innocent in all this, and that Geithner, Summers, Bernanke, and the people he "listens to" are at fault. Are they suggesting/admitting that Obama has been "captured"?

Got the Nate link early this morning from family and thought wow he (Nate) has the **** together (which was confirmed by KD referencing/linking to it).

Moreover, after reading the Nate article I was reading TF forum comments on one of Karl's other posts. He (Karl) mentioned who (.gov, .fbi and others) has been monitoring these forums.

To me, this has to be another colossal failure of the government institutions and departments. To be monitoring this site and I am sure Nate's and the individual on the other end of the computer not thinking… "what the **** or questioning what is occurring at the FED, Treasury, Congress and Wall Street”

Is every government employee (FBI NSA CIA) and/or official that removed or blind to what is happening and being spouted by the media????

I just finished relistening to the end of the question and answer session where Black pointed out what a joke the stress tests were. I am sure this has been covered elsewhere, but does Turbo Timmy have legal liability (under section 10b-5 or otherwise) for knowlingly disseminating materially false information about the banks in the form of the stress tests? Does he have civil liablity to anyone who bought the banks in reliance on the stress tests if they subsequently tank? Alternatively, has the bank stock rally been manufactured to avoid this liability ("you can't sue me because the stocks went up")?

I really enjoyed the Prof. Black talk & Q/A despite the length.

I'm entirely unsure if there can be **any** mea culpa leading to reform in this department without the whole system imploding. Because, think about it, in any discussion of the whole subprime fiasco, first there is the listing of potential blame centers: The Fed, the raters, the banks, the lying buyers and the lying mort brokers. OK, so the list is long and well known.

Any discussion of reform leads to the inevitable conclusion that the Fed, in the very person of Geithner now and Paulson (then) was entirely "in" on it. That they are now in charge of the system means the entire system has to be overthrown *now*, or in some variation of *now* before there can be any hope of righting the ship.

Watching the video, unfortunately, gave me the impression that there is no way short of de facto systemic collapse. Essentially, we have a group of people standing on a bridge, inviting more and more people to come on over and stand on the bridge, implying it has infinite carrying capacity. And the only thing that is certain is the arrogance they exhibit which makes it clear that they will invite more and more weight onto the bridge until the very laws of physics teaches them their sordid lesson.

Gamma, people directly asked Black what the end result is going to be and all he said is that there is going to be a scandal. I heard nothing about a system collapse.
